Machining Engineer

MACHINING ENGINEER

The position reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for providing engineering support towards the machine shop and associated secondary processes. Additional supporting duties may include expansion into the quality/inspection departments. The machining engineer will apply technical skills and knowledge to the improvement of processes and capabilities in the facility. This role will also be an active contributor to the engineering team and any projects assigned to that group.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be proficient in SolidWorks to utilize in machine fixture design and interpreting machining models.
  • Be Proficient in G-Code and how it relates to writing machining programs for CNC machines.
  • Able to select and source cutting tools for any programs that are written.
  • Use engineering principles to write and implement machining programs for CNC machines.
  • Understand how to setup tooling into CNC machines and use appropriate speeds and feeds for these tools.
  • Participate in machining cycle reduction activities.
  • Able to read blueprints and interpret all appropriate GD&T callouts.
  • Have an ability to interpret a machining print or model to develop cycle time estimates and fixture quotes for new work.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement initiative in all areas of facility.
  • All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • Prior experience in an Engineering capacity
  • Experience in a machining manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
