Job description
We need Recycling Operators and Decontamination Operators for a Recycling/manufacturing facility located in Vernon, CA.
Pay is 22-26/hr. OT as needed.
Recycling Operator/Sorting and Grinding- 3pm to 11:30pm shift only.
Decontamination Operator- 11pm to 7:30am shift only.

The purpose of the Recycling Operator/Sorting and Grinding I is to ensure recyclable feedstocks are processed in accordance company's highest quality standards. Essential Responsibilities •
SORTERS • High level of competency to train, motivate and support Sorters for highest level of performance- completed management training program. • Achieve average turnover rate of 90 days (good sorters stay for at least 90 days)
•BUFFER 1 TO 2 • Ensure buffers are at 50% or more the entire shift.
•DELABELERS • Monitor delabeling effectiveness on bottles going to DRS2. • Monitor hoppers of delabelers and adjust settings to keep full throughput.
•AMP TRACKING • Monitor amps and other key parameters of system to ensure 100% uptime and proactive communication to maintenance.
•BELLY PANS • Complete cycle of weekly belly pan drops and conveyor clean outs to reduce downtime.
•NRTS • Assist in cleaning optical with goal of less than 15 minutes downtime. • Monitor outputs of optical to ensure contamination is limited for sorters, report issues.
•MAX • Monitor MAX performance and manage daily cleaning of units. • Report any issues timely and accurately.
•CONTAMINATION • Manage all of the above to ensure contamination is minimized for sorters.
•PLANT UPKEEP • Assist in daily and weekly cleanings as listed in the MCL. Maintain world class facility in terms of cleanliness.
•GMP • Responsible for following food safety requirements of the facility
- Zero GMP violations per month • It is the responsibility of every employee including temp workers to immediately report to Management the discovery of contamination in any area of the production facility that constitutes a risk to product and/or personnel safety. • Other duties as assigned.
The purpose of the Decon Operator is to oversee and ensure recycled material is processed through the decontamination reactor(s) to produce food-grade rPET Flake while monitoring the process parameters and recipes to ensure the highest quality material for downstream manufacturing areas.
Essential Responsibilities • Constant check of parameters such as temperatures, Pressures, Trends and discharge cycles. • Complete hourly checks on Teams accurately and in a timely manner. • Hourly quality sampling and testing of material. Posting and Reporting results of material. Retesting and communication and/or escalation steps followed if Quality is not to standard. • Bag out material as needed to keep Overflow silos at a manageable level, to both be able to keep Decon machines running and keeping inventory for downstream processes. • Help maintenance with troubleshooting of equipment, as well as, support during changes of slide gates and vacuum pump oil filters. • Unadyn Crystallizer hourly checks and Validate equipment has correct recipe/blend as asked for by scheduling team. • Ensure area is clean and up to GMP standards in a food-grade packaging manufacturing environment. • Perform autonomous maintenance by cleaning equipment when machine is down. This includes but is not limited to heating screws, chain elevator, discharge chambers, and vacuum reactor. • Report issues to maintenance and broader team using processes sand tools set by leadership. Create work orders and support maintenance with troubleshooting. • Complete accurate data entry for end-of-shift reporting and ERP (Vicinity) batch tickets. • Maintain compliance with company and OSHA safety policies including but not limited to lockout/ tagout procedures, forklift operation, proper use of PPE, and sharps discovery and handling. • It is the responsibility of every employee including temp workers to immediately report to Management the discovery of contamination in any area of the production facility that constitutes a risk to product and/or personnel safety.
Qualifications • 3+ years stable work experience in a related manufacturing setting. • SQF (Safe Quality Food), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) background is a plus. • Must be able to read and write in English, as well as proficiency in math. High School Diploma or GED. • Effective communication skills, and ability to speak Spanish a plus. • Proven abilities to troubleshoot equipment issues and maximize equipment performance. • Knowledgeable with product/material quality sampling and testing procedures. • Hands-on approach, with a “can-do” attitude. • Inventory handling and counting experience. • Demonstrate safe work habits and extensive knowledge of workplace safety is required.
