M&E Coordinator
An exciting general contactor based in the York Region is currently looking to add a Mechanical and Electrical Coordinator (MEP) to their team. The MEP is responsible for assisting the Project Manager(s) and Superintendent(s) on small and large-scale projects, coordinating activities required in the pre- construction, construction and start-up of all building systems, including but not limited to temporary services, site services, elevator, mechanical and electrical.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Construction or Engineering or related diploma/degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5+ years of mechanical and electrical construction experience
- Prepare and manage the contract item’s list for all components, materials, and systems to ensure that all dates are in compliance with the project schedule with the appropriate approval status.
- Resolve conflicts between the mechanical and electrical systems with the site logistics plan and in compliance with the project schedule.
- Lead the overall turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning and closeout.
- Conduct regular project walkthroughs to ensure that work is proceeding in accordance with the contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals.
- Identify and inform field staff of difficult installation requirements in sufficient time to allow for proper planning and execution.
- Create and implement the quality control plan with the project team.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business unit and corporate objectives
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform detailed reviews of all construction drawings to identify all potential conflicts between architectural/structural elements and mechanical/electrical installations
- Plan the mechanical and electrical components of a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent and the Project Manager
- Prepare scope of work documents with a division of responsibility for trades and specific scopes of work for temporary operations.
- Review of mechanical shop drawings and coordination with electrical shop drawings
- Prepare regular, timely and accurate billings for the mechanical and electrical components of the job, and assists the Project Manager to ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings
- Monitor in conjunction with the Superintendent, a project’s material and labour costs for mechanical and electrical components and assure accurate quality reporting is being conducted
- Assist the Project Manager by leading project meetings, determining the status of the job in terms of scheduling and costing and solve complex technical issues; provide information to ensure schedule is accurate and up to date
- Review mechanical and electrical changes received from the architect to ensure they are complete and up to standards and review subcontractor prices on these changes
- Plan, direct and coordinate all on-site mechanical & electrical activities to comply with specifications, requirements and codes
- Provide direction during functional performance testing of all mechanical and electrical systems
- Coordinate all relevant drawings and information to eliminate interference problems
- Review constructability of proposed mechanical systems for projects
- Schedule and monitor of major deliverables
- Assist Project Managers and Superintendents in updating and achieving schedule requirements, mechanical and electrical RFIs and shop drawings and administrate mechanical/electrical project completion requirements
- Guide site team in understanding best principles and practices for mechanical/electrical systems
