Position: Long-Term Disability Case Manager I x 2 Positions - JP6745

Duration: 1 year contract

Location: Remote for now and later Halifax

Job Description:

WFH due to COVID, then would be a combination of WFH and in office eventually

Candidates would either be starting 7/6 or 8/3 depending since there is a training class; please set expectations with candidates Bilingual candidates- Not required, but preferred if possible

Client is seeking an action-oriented individual with strong team building, relationship management, and problem-solving skills to join their fast paced team as a Long Term Disability Case Manager on a regular full time basis.

In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis and adjudication of Long Term Disability claims, taking into account contractual, medical and investigative information in an effort to make competent and timely disability determinations. These duties rely on your sound analysis of the disability contract and your ability to think strategically and to apply good judgment. Communication skills are also a vital part of this position as you will deal directly with plan members.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessment of long term disability claims including the identification, and analysis of medical, contractual, and eligibility information
  • Development of case management plans
  • Communicate/consult with claimants, internal/external providers and government agencies
  • Provide technical direction by reviewing and identifying file development needs

As the preferred candidate, you will possess:

  • Disability management and/or Group Benefit knowledge
  • Previous case management experience within an insurance/financial organization
  • Background in health related field would be an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Solid office administration skills
  • Strong customer service experience in a demanding environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Flexibility to balance conflicting priorities
  • Analytical skills with a close attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Deadline driven
  • Bilingual (English/French) an asset
  • Insurance claims knowledge or experience
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology, medical management and pharmacology would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Canadian Armed Forces terminology would be an asset
