Logistics Project Manager

Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Logistics Project Manager is to provide technical support for all eight of the Cement Terminals. Technical support includes various project management, capital expenditure budgeting, maintenance support, maintenance budgeting, technical upgrades, and equipment efficiency studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering and project management oversight for plant terminal modifications and projects from conception through implementation. This includes both capital and non-capital projects and includes the development of expenditure requests, project justification, construction oversight and documentation.
  • Manage direct in-house labor or outside contract labor to complete tasks as required.
  • Assist Terminal Managers in the development of maintenance practices and procedures to ensure terminal objectives are achieved.
  • Provide engineering and troubleshooting support as needed.
  • Assist in technical training and development.
  • Conduct equipment evaluations and develop appropriate maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Assist in various planning activities; including development of job plans, PM’s, outage plans and schedules, and annual budgets.
  • Daily communication with the Cement Company Logistics Manager to understand priorities and responsibilities.
  • Work with the Safety Manager to provide support and an understanding of terminal safety issues.
  • Work with the Environmental Manager to maintain compliance with all environmental regulations and permits.
  • Home base for position planned for the Cement Plant in Louisville, KY with travel to each of the eight terminals as needed.
  • Will work with the Cement Plant technical staff to gain experience in order to build a technical foundation that can be used to support the terminals.
  • May be assigned some cement plant projects to complete between technical tasks required at the eight terminals.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Experience in cement or closely related heavy industry preferred, but willing to consider recent engineering or related technical degree graduates.
  • Experience in project engineering and design, contract administration, construction and maintenance methods, project scope development, budget preparation, purchasing process, and scheduling desired.
  • Experience in preparation of bid packages and technical reporting preferred.
  • Computer software proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project scheduling software. Skills with Auto-Cad and drafting as required to provide drawings and sketches for implementation of special project modifications or improvements desired.
  • Experience with equipment vibration monitoring and oil sampling programs and ability to utilize data for evaluating condition of equipment and corrective action required to provide reliability helpful.
  • Experience with root-cause failure analysis methods and good troubleshooting skills beneficial.
  • Effective communication skills written and spoken in English.
  • Experience with supervision of maintenance/technical personnel and strong people skills are desired for this position.
  • Must be a self-starter and have good organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn technical skills including attending training seminars.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Strong on the job experience in project management at industrial facilities with experience in maintenance practices. 5+ years of experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technology degree a plus.
