Position Summary:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of engineered fasteners and specialty nuts. At our
Mississauga plant, we are looking for a Lock Press Operator to run lock press machinery that
forms “prevailing torque” nuts and other internally threaded fasteners. You’ll be part of a
precision manufacturing environment where quality is critical, customer standards are high, and
continuous improvement is expected.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, adjust, and operate lock press machines in accordance with production orders, blueprints, tooling specifications, and safety standards.
  • Load raw material, change tooling, and perform press changeovers.
  • Monitor press performance; watch for tool wear, misalignment, or defects and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality.
  • Inspect parts using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges) to ensure they meet tight tolerances.
  • Maintain press machinery; perform daily cleaning, lubrication, minor maintenance, and report larger mechanical issues.
  • Follow quality, safety (including ISO 14001), and environmental systems.
  • Record production output, scrap, downtime, and tooling usage. Report issues to supervision.
  • Work with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating lock presses or similar cold forming / stamping presses preferred. Metal fastener / torque nut experience is a strong plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret production drawings, blueprints, tooling specs.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring tools.
  • Physically able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle materials.
  • Willingness to work shifts if required.

Preferred Skills / Attributes:
  • Prior experience in automotive or high-volume industrial manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of press tooling, threading operations, and wearing parts.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (e.g. PPM, SPC), and OSHA/CSA safety standards.
  • Basic computer skills for data logging and use of internal systems.
