The company is currently seeking a
Loans/Credit Underwriter that can be based at the DTLA office.
Responsible for underwriting and risk analysis of credit requests within the assigned business line.
The underwriter performs various functions, including carrying out assessments of information provided by clients and prospects to determine the capacity of borrowers to repay their financial obligations and mitigate credit risk.


  • Responsible for underwriting commercial loans and preparing presentations
  • Takes decisions on credit applications under the supervision of upper management.
  • Utilizes provided software to score credit applications
  • Establishes rapport; maintains and grows important relationships within the portfolio
  • Identifies risks associated with each loan and mitigations to risks. Generates and recommends risk ratings. Interprets and applies Bank policies, governmental regulations, and accounting theory.
  • Prepares reports and analyses in areas such as budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts.
  • Provides support to account officers on customer calls as needed
  • Applies experience with comparable credits to recommend appropriate covenants, terms, and conditions, and structure for a credit request
  • Discusses risk ratings and the rationale for the determination of acceptable credits with the relationship managers and credit approvers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • Require a minimum of 3 years of underwriting and analysis experience.
  • Possess good human relations, communications, and business writing skills.
  • High level of accuracy and great attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to cope with pressure resulting from meeting required deadlines and reporting requirements.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of credit principles and lending, including industrial, commercial, real estate, and/or term loans as applicable.
