Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Life & Health Department Manager to lead our benefits and life insurance team. This role combines leadership, client relationship management, and operational oversight to ensure efficiency, quality service, and business growth. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, communicative, and knowledgeable in group health and life insurance products, including Medicare.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of the Life & Health department, ensuring staff are supported, trained, and motivated.

Manage a book of business, providing guidance on employee benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, STD, and Voluntary Benefits.

Collaborate with clients from initial contact through implementation, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience.

Conduct annual benefit plan reviews, including plan design, carrier analysis, and cost assessment.

Handle customer service inquiries and claims, working directly with carrier representatives to resolve issues.

Manage the sales and servicing of life insurance and travel/accident policies, including quoting, advising, and maintaining files.

Coach, mentor, and develop staff, promoting teamwork and professional growth.

Prepare management reports to track strategic goals and departmental performance.

Ensure compliance with carrier licensing and appointment requirements.

Provide oversight and administrative support for Senior Product Specialists.

Communicate effectively with executive leadership, producers, and other department managers.
Qualifications & Skills

Proven leadership experience in a Life & Health insurance or employee benefits environment.

Strong knowledge of group health and life insurance products; Medicare knowledge a plus.

Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to mentor staff and manage client relationships.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel expertise required).

Solid understanding of industry trends, brokerage operations, and governmental regulations.

Ability to travel locally as needed and work outside standard business hours when required.

Professional demeanor and strong judgment in handling internal and external stakeholders.
