Legal Operations Analyst
Job Description
Our client, a leading global company in Atlanta, is seeking a Business Operations Analyst within their Legal Department. This person will possess strong accounting and analytical skills with experience in both analysis and operational performance and will play an important role in identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities, primarily in the department’s financial processes and systems. The position requires active participation in the development and implementation of world class law department operations. This role provides primary contact for financial assistance for the majority of the Law Department, and will need to exercise leadership and influence while assisting business clients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages accounts payable process for the department, including necessary journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis
- Primary point of contact for suppliers and Law members utilizing Law’s Matter & Spend Management System – will work directly and professionally with suppliers to resolve issues and ensures compliance
- Manages reserves and prepaids, preparing all necessary accounting adjustments and variance analysis
- Prepares appropriate forecast and spend reconciliation, including management reports facilitating strategic discussions
- Assists in the creation and management of an annual Plan
- Performs regular financial analysis on various Law results
- Responsible for maintenance of a robust control framework within the function of the position
- Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies while seeking opportunities to reduce cost and participates in the development of strategic initiatives to optimize our Legal spend
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- 2+ years experience in Accounting, Finance, or Audit role
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills necessary to deal with internal and external contacts, as well as an ability to interact comfortably with many levels of management
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, project manage, prioritize work load, and display high-level organizational skills
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in SOX compliance
- Operational experience with legal spend, including Matter & Spend Management Systems such as Datacert Passport
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and globally, with the ability to consult, build relationships, and/or indirectly influence and lead enterprise-wide and/or cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated training and auditing skills
- Six Sigma and/or Lean continuous improvement training and project experience
