Job Description
The Learning Developer will be responsible for establishing and developing the Academic Success Centre ensuring the institution's standards are upheld through teaching and learning initiatives such as workshops, coaching sessions, writing support, and curriculum development. The role also involves contributing to staff development and other educational initiatives across the institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate with module leaders and Registrar to deliver both bespoke and compulsory as well as voluntary workshops on various aspects of academic integrity, learning and writing development, EAP and communication to undergraduate students.
  • Co-ordinate with module leaders and Registrar to ensure students needing extra academic skills support are referred for sessions.
  • Provide feedback on essays and assignments to undergraduate and EMBA students.
  • Provide advice on dissertation writing to third-year undergraduate and EMBA students.
  • Provide 1:1 academic skill coaching to undergraduate and EMBA students.
  • Develop material for workshops on aspects of learning and writing development, EAP and academic integrity.
  • Co-ordinate with and advise the Foundation level Student Learning Adviser.
  • Assume the responsibility of Academic Officer for undergraduate courses.
  • Support the planning and facilitation of face-to-face sessions during ED teaching visits, and for teams-based workshops.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support educational development activity for staff responsible for teaching and/or supporting student learning (e.g., Teaching Assistants, ICAP Participants) via online resources, face-to-face workshops and individual conversations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to evaluate, review and develop provision to ensure it meets the current needs of participants and the development of the partnership.
  • Engage in marking and moderation of ICAP assessment work, liaising with other ICAP tutors involved in the marking process.
  • Support the planning and coordination of the institution's Sharing Practice events.
  • Contribute to the assessment board with the external examiner (via Teams).
Required Competencies

Educational/Academic Qualifications

  • A good first degree from reputable university
  • Relevant Master’s degree from a reputable tertiary institution is desirable
  • An internationally recognised English language teaching certificate e.g., Cambridge CELTA, Trinity TESOL
  • A minimum of three years’ post teaching qualification relevant work experience, preferably in a Higher Education Institution (HEI)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (International) (or equivalent).
  • They will also be expected to work towards achieving professional recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy as part of their ongoing professional development.
Technical
  • Relevant experience in the development of teaching and learning materials and the delivery of academic skills and writing workshops
  • Excellent administration, communication and presentation skills
  • Sound working knowledge of IT (especially Office applications) and use of the Internet
  • Excellent attention to detail; and
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently.
