Summary
Leads the work of other material handlers and participates in duties related to trans loading (i.e. unloading, receiving, inspecting, loading, shipping, storing, generating variety of documents and reports) by following instructions given by Transloading Customer Service Manager.

Trains new dock staff including Temp Associates in all related job functions.

Essential Function
  • Lead the work of other material handlers and participates in the duties related to the transloading. Under Transloading Customer Service Manager’s general instruction, follow the requests by Trans loading Customer Service Manager and team to accomplish the work.
  • Lead the work of other material handlers and participates in counting, weighing, and measuring incoming or outgoing cargo to compare identifying information and verifying against bill of lading, invoices, receivers, or other documents.
  • Assists in training all new dock employees including Temp Associates to adhere to compliance and expectations of the job.
  • Record irregularities and/or damages of received freights, containers, or trailers on receiving documents and inform Manager and internal concerned teams
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date records of daily activity, completion of necessary forms

-Daily Outbound Trailer Loading Tally
-Driver’s Information Sheet-Manifest
-Daily Activity Log prepared by Trans-loading Team
-Any other required and instructed records.
  • Ensure all safety practices are being followed as instructed and trained including proper movement of freight on the forklift, pallet jack, and during the stacking, staging, loading, unloading freights. Lead those practices of other material handlers by example.
  • Palletizing, Restacking, Reworking, Labeling, Sorting freight if required and requested.
  • Use Forklift /Hand jack /Scale, other equipment and tools in a safe manner, in accordance with policy.
  • Maintain Warehouse equipment (Forklift, Hand Jack, Storage Rack, Computers, etc.), report any damages or failures of equipment to Transloading Customer Service Manager
  • By using a variety of communication tools, inform Transloading Customer Service Manager, Trans loading Customer Service Team, other internal concerned teams of the status of transloading, shipping, receiving in timely manner.
  • Lead the material handlers and participate in 5S for assigned area.
  • Ensure facility is secure prior to leaving at the end of day, all exit and dock doors are closed and locked, glad hand locks placed on any containers, communicate with family company to ensure security system is armed.
  • Perform other related duties including overtime working as required by Trans-loading Customer Service Manager
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Required Experience: Minimum of Four (4) years of Warehousing, Shipping, Receiving
  • Required Skills: Sit-down/Stand up forklift certification
