Lead Trainer Role and Responsibilities
The Lead Trainer is a dynamic, high-impact role at the heart of our studio’s success. This individual is responsible for building, mentoring, and leading our team of trainers while delivering exceptional class experiences that inspire and retain members.
The ideal candidate leads by example, sets the tone for team culture, and raises the bar for class excellence, energy, and professionalism. They are a natural leader, community builder, and passionate brand ambassador.
Staffing
- Establish monthly trainer class schedule.
- Coordinate and approve all sub requests; ensure adequate coverage for all classes.
- Manage last-minute substitutions, including finding coverage for sick trainers or teaching the class yourself if no coverage is available
- Distribute final monthly class schedule to trainer team.
- Audition and recruit new trainers as needed.
- Onboard new trainers through the full 100-hour immersive training process.
- Serve as the primary mentor for all trainers, providing feedback and development.
- Partner with HQ to deliver new training modules and continuing education.
Membership Engagement
- Personally contact first-time clients to welcome them and learn about injuries, goals, or special considerations.
- Communicate relevant client/member info to trainers to ensure a tailored class experience.
- Monitor and support member retention through relationships and feedback loops.
Events & Marketing
- Organize and execute member appreciation events, community activations, and outreach opportunities.
- Assign event coverage and responsibilities to trainer team members as appropriate.
- Communicate studio announcements to team and members in a timely, inspiring way.
- Capture and share organic in-studio content to support social media marketing.
- Occasionally collaborate with GM/marketing team on content or campaigns.
Administration
- Host monthly team trainer meetings focused on performance, updates, and culture.
- Share and manage the monthly equipment usage calendar.
- Review class utilization and performance metrics monthly with Studio Manager.
- Provide feedback or suggestions for scheduling improvements or client engagement.
Leadership & Strategic Alignment
- Attend monthly strategy meetings with General Manager and Owner to align on goals, performance, staff development, and upcoming priorities.
- Bring key insights from the training floor (client feedback, staff concerns, successes) to leadership discussions.
- Help drive studio culture by modeling professionalism, enthusiasm, and care.
- Be available as an escalation point for trainer-related concerns, or operational issues.
