Lead Registered Nurse
Job Description
We are currently hiring for a Lead Registered Nurse (RN) located in Chester NJ. This role works under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Medical Director, providing high-quality nursing care to patients within the scope of licensure. This role includes clinical responsibilities, leadership of nursing staff, and coordination of care within a multidisciplinary treatment environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintain oversight of the nursing department.
- Serve as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team in providing nursing care under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Medical Director.
- Perform daily patient care which includes, but is not limited to, patient assessments and interventions; evaluate and report outcomes
- Function as lead staff member guiding emergency management communications and assignments as needed.
- Act in leadership role assuming administration duties when DON absent.
- Administer medication using principles of medication administration
- Accurately obtain and interpret patient orthostatic or sitting vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen, respiration, and temperature, rechecking any abnormal vital signs, and reporting abnormalities.
- Accurately obtain and report patient conditions, including abnormal labs, and communicate relevant changes to providers.
- Regularly update treatment plans.
- Participate in shift change report.
- Communicate with patient care staff in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in Treatment Planning Meetings
- Engage in ongoing staff training and development.
- Assist the Director of Nursing with supervision of nursing staff.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives
- Plan, schedule, and assign nursing staff
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Jersey
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Food Handler training certificate (within two weeks of hire)
- Minimum of one year of RN experience in an acute care or behavioral health residential setting.
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred BACKGROUND CLEARANCE
- Child Abuse Record Information (CARI)
- Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) HEALTH CLEARANCE
- Completed Hidden River Employee Medical Clearance Form PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
- Capacity for prolonged sitting or standing AGE-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
