Join a leading provider in engineered products and services located in Waco or Houston, TX (hybrid role). This position offers an opportunity to head the Engineering department, focusing on the design and engineering of a diverse product portfolio including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and other custom metal fabricated products. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of leadership prowess and technical expertise, aimed at leading projects and improvements that align with strategic objectives.
Salary: $115,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers, creating a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Oversee the engineering activities to ensure compliance with ASME, API, TEMA standards and internal quality processes.
- Conduct performance evaluations, providing feedback and supporting professional development across the engineering team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Project Management, and Operations to develop competitive manufacturing plans.
- Manage and allocate department resources effectively to optimize productivity and achieve departmental objectives.
- Perform detailed ASME & API calculations and approve fabrication drawings ensuring strict compliance with relevant codes.
- Generate detailed design packages that include everything from calculations to weld maps and inspection travelers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing departmental efficiency, quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Use industry-specific software (Compress, AME Tank, AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) to perform engineering tasks and designs.
- Provide technical leadership and support on the shop floor, solving engineering-related issues swiftly.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant engineering experience specifically with metal fabricated products such as pressure vessels, tanks, and heat exchangers.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience within an engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of welding practices and comprehensive knowledge of ASME and API standards.
- Proficient in the use of engineering software including Compress, AME Tank, AutoCAD, Inventor, and SolidWorks.
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident as the company is unable to offer sponsorship at this time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Project management skills with a proven ability to oversee projects from conception to implementation.
- Experience in designing and performing FMEA, FEA, and utilizing DFM/A and other problem-solving tools.
- Ability to estimate material and labor costs, contributing to the development of competitive bids and proposals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills capable of maintaining strong relationships.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail; proficient at multitasking and prioritization.
Skills:
- Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other data analysis tools.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the metals markets and its impact on manufacturing and product pricing.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to effectively address and resolve system-level challenges.
