Laser Operator

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Laser Operator to join our manufacturing weld shop. The Laser Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating CNC laser cutting equipment to produce accurate metal components according to customer specifications, engineering drawings, and production requirements.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Operate CNC laser cutting equipment to cut sheet metal, plate, and other materials according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
• Load and unload raw material and finished parts safely and efficiently.
• Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, and part requirements before production.
• Monitor laser cutting operations and make appropriate adjustments to maintain quality and production standards.
• Inspect finished parts using tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
• Identify and correct issues such as poor cut quality, excessive dross, dimensional inconsistencies, or improper machine settings.
• Perform basic machine setup, including loading programs, selecting tooling/nozzles, and setting material parameters.
• Maintain proper part identification, job documentation, and production records.
• Perform routine cleaning, inspection, and basic preventive maintenance of laser equipment.
• Safely handle and organize materials and finished parts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
• Work closely with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and other production personnel to keep jobs moving efficiently.
• Meet established production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a CNC laser, plasma cutter, or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
• Manufacturing, fabrication, or welding shop experience preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
• Basic knowledge of measuring tools and inspection procedures.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle materials safely.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to learn new equipment, processes, and procedures.

Nights: Monday – Thursday 4pm-4:30am

Weekends: Friday-Sunday 5am-5:30pm
