Our client, a manufacturer of premium paints and coatings, is seeking an experienced Lab Manager to join their team.
The Lab Manager directs research and development activities for architectural and industrial products. Conducts research, analysis, and experimentation on substances, for such purposes as product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of analytical methodologies.
This position directly supervises all laboratory employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department, including interviewing, hiring, and training; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
·Communicate to management an overview of the performance and stage of all products under development.
·Plan and develop project’s objectives related to raw materials, formulations, processing equipment, human resources and cost of research and development.
·Track industry trends, relevant legislation, and competitor’s activities.
·Prepare standards and specifications for products, processes and tests related to research and quality projects.
·Analyze raw materials to determine chemical properties, physical properties, quality and performance.
·Conduct research on manufactured products to develop and improve products.
·Manage vendor relationships with raw material, manufacturing, packaging, and laboratory equipment suppliers.
·Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering and/
·10 years minimum of related experience and/or training
·A combination of college and/or experience will be considered depending on extent of each.
