LPNs Children's Detention Center

We are looking for Licensed Practical Nurses LPNs to work Friday overnights and Saturday evening and overnights with the potential to expand to weekday evenings with a Children's Detention Center in Rochester, NY.
Must be able to work within a team environment, communicate well, and administer medication. Hours are evenings, nights on weekends.

1. Administer treatments to the children residing in the Children's Center as ordered by clinicians licensed in NYS to prescribe medication.
2. Administer medications to the children residing in the Children's Center as ordered by clinicians licensed in New York State (NYS) to prescribe medication. This includes following NYS and Federal regulations for medication administration; storage and handling;
3. Obtain health histories and perform health assessments for children residing at the Children's Center;
4. Assess, manage, and refer to outside agencies, children residing at the Children's Center with special health care needs;
5. Perform nursing observations and/or assessments within the scope of practice;
6. Perform ordered tests
7. Review incoming medical summaries/reports and facilitate any necessary intervention based on this review
8. Initiate, create and implement discharge planning for all children upon admission
9. Participate in quality assurance activities
10. Participate in staff meetings, as scheduling allows, in order to facilitate coordinated care for this population
11. Provide detailed documentation of all care and communication
