Key Account Manager — Grocery & Supermarket Channel (Puerto Rico)

Location: Puerto Rico On-site + Field Full-time Compensation: $55K–$70K base (DOE) + performance bonuses + car allowance + medical plan Recruitment managed by: GRC Executive


The Opportunity

We are searching for a Key Account Manager who doesn't just manage accounts — they grow them. This is a high-impact commercial role where you will own the strategic and financial performance of a portfolio of Puerto Rico's most important supermarket chains, including Mr. Special, Selectos, Econo, Supermax, Napo Velez, Capri, Hatillo Kash and Karry, and Oscar Cash and Carry.

What You Will Do

You will be the CEO of your account portfolio. Your success will be measured by how much you grow cases, dollars, and market share across every chain you manage.

Own the Numbers

You will deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial targets across your portfolio — tracking performance through Tableau dashboards, Sales by Customer Detail reports, Category Performance reports, and penetration analyses. Every underperforming account gets a weekly action plan from you, built on data, not instinct.

Grow Accounts Through the 4 P's

  • Promotion: Negotiate 100% of promotional plans by account, delivering incremental shoppers, shopper spots, and cartons versus last year
  • Penetration: Increase category penetration quarter-over-quarter to capture market share and strengthen in-store presence
  • Product: Sell in new items aggressively — you will be constantly introducing innovation to your buyers
  • Partnership: Meet with account buyers bi-weekly (monthly minimum) armed with a 1-page Executive Summary covering business state, store-visit insights, new products, and untapped opportunities

Lead Quarterly Business Reviews

For your top accounts, you will deliver a full QBR each quarter — reversing negative trends, executing action plans, and making sure your buyers see you as an indispensable strategic partner.

Protect the P&L

Manage credit portfolio through the Open Invoices Report, validate every price change, ensure 100% payment statement accuracy, and maintain forecast accuracy above 80% to avoid inventory surpluses and shortages.

Develop the Team

Coach and develop merchandisers and the broader sales team into A-players. One-on-ones every three weeks. Four store visits monthly to share best practices, model sell-in skills, and give real-time coaching.

  • Your team hits their scorecards because you built them into A-players

What You Bring

Must-Haves

  • Fully bilingual (English & Spanish) — written and verbal
  • Advanced Excel skills (subject-matter expert level — pivot tables, data modeling, advanced formulas)
  • PowerPoint expertise — you can build a compelling 1-pager for a buyer meeting in 30 minutes
  • Commercial sales experience with supermarket chains or grocery retail in Puerto Rico
  • Data fluency — you do not make recommendations without pulling the numbers first
  • Based in Puerto Rico with ability to travel across the island to client locations

Work Dynamic & Schedule

This is a field-first role with structured office time:

  • Monday & Friday: In office — preparation, planning, reporting, and clerical work
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: In the field — buyer meetings, store visits, client presentations

Remote work is not available beyond the two in-office preparation days. If you are in the field in the morning and need to finish administrative work, you can wrap up from home that afternoon — but this role requires a person who genuinely wants to be in front of buyers and in stores, not behind a screen.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $55,000 – $70,000 (based on experience)
  • Car Allowance: $500 – $700 monthly
  • Quarterly Performance Bonus: $1,500 when you exceed your plan by 105%+
  • Annual Performance Bonus: 8%–15% of base salary, tied to exceeding financial sales objectives
  • Medical Plan: Company covers 50% of premium (individual or family coverage)
