SYMVIONICS at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) in
Hampton, Virginia is seeking a junior level software engineer to join our team.
Our Simulation and Aircraft Services (SAS) task order provides full life
cycle flight simulation software and hardware services and flight simulation
infrastructure engineering services for LaRC ground-based and flight research
systems and facilities. Hardware services include engineering, operations, and
maintenance of the simulation hardware and software infrastructure.
Infrastructure engineering services include modification of existing
infrastructure, design and implementation of new infrastructure, and support
for simulation operations and maintenance activities.
Job Description and
Responsibilities:
The Flight Simulation Facilities (FSF) are
comprised of computing systems including the Real-Time Computer Systems, a
six-degree-of-freedom motion base, four full-sized simulator cockpits, and a
multi-purpose re-configurable test and evaluation simulator. The FSF also
include Systems Integration and Laboratories.
We develop and support real-time,
pilot-in-the-loop, manned simulations. These simulation facilities
include large commercial transport type aircraft, small general aviation type
aircraft, as well as future UAV, UAM and manned spaceflight type vehicles.
We ae looking for an individual with a strong
engineering, physics or mathematics background and skills in programming.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate
would have experience in flight simulation, developing and testing C++ code in
a Linux environment.

Experience with Object
Oriented Design in C++ would be beneficial.
· Experience in
configuration management using Clearcase, experience using Rational Rose as a
design tool, experience using Jira for change request management, or experience
with PHP or Python would be helpful.
·
We are also interested
in individuals with experience developing visual databases in OpenSceneGraph,
Unity Game Engine or Unreal Engine.
A Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience; degree in Engineering (Aerospace or EE preferred), Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics; or equivalent combined training and relevant experience for a non-degreed specialist.

Regular exposure to an office environment with extended periods of time spent sitting at a desk using a computer.
