Position: Junior Reports Developer - CJ5318

Duration: 1 year

Location: Remote for now and later Waterloo, ON

Job Description:

The Reports Developer will design and develop database solutions to effectively retrieve and display data to meet business needs.

As the successful candidate, you will liaise with functional teams, business analysts and other developers to deliver internal reporting and analytic solutions by governing efficient use of time, technology and resources. The ideal candidate will have strong technology background and the ability to govern the design, development and implementation of reporting projects.


  • Work with the business to identify reporting opportunities, by analyzing business needs and assessing feasibility
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications
  • Designing, developing & configuring SSRS solutions
  • Optimize SQL server stored procedures to efficiently retrieve data
  • Design RDLs to display data in accordance to guidelines and branding
  • Maintain and support data analytics platforms
  • Creating and maintaining solution documentation
  • Evaluate and improve existing stored procedures and RDLs
  • Supporting existing processes and implementing change requirements as part of a structured change control process
  • Problem solving issues that arise in day-to-day running of SSRS reports and providing timely responses and solutions as required
  • Working with QA to create and document test procedures and scenarios for the pre-UAT phases
  • Supporting the Operational Teams during the UAT and deployment phases


  • Programming/coding experience in SQL, Visual Studio, C#.Net, Java, VB6 or similar
  • Proficient in SQL Server Management Studio and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Experience with Power BI, or other BI technologies is an asset
  • An understanding of database management systems
  • Ability to understand business requirements & develop appropriate solutions
  • Excellent documentation writing skills
  • Experience in an Agile Development model
  • MS Visio along with strong MS Excel/Access skills
  • Knowledge of Insurance/Banking industry processes and/or systems (desirable)
