Our client is a Federal Government Department within the National Capital Region

Position Overview

In order to meet the requirements under the Policy on Internal Control, requires the services of a qualified Junior Financial Management Consultant to complete a review and assessment of its system of internal controls over financial reporting. The consultant would be required to work between 15 and 37.5 hours a week.

What you will achieve in this role:

  • Reviewing the current internal control over financial reporting objectives in relation with SAP and updating as necessary;
  • Performing data retrieval and compilation including integrity checks;
  • Evaluating evidence of the operating effectiveness and identify any control deficiencies;
  • Preparing and reviewing working papers as evidence for observations;
  • Documenting the results of the transactional testing;
  • Evaluating and reporting on the adequacy of departmental financial control practices;
  • Performing Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) governance audit tasks;
  • Assisting in the development of the year-end reporting on the results of the testing;
  • Assisting with any other ad-hoc activity
  • Providing advice and guidance to management on matters pertaining to accounting, financial reporting and financial control;

What you will bring to this role:

Hold a valid Reliability Status

4+ years related experience in:

  • Providing financial support services
  • Researching and analyzing financial data
  • Conducting inquiries or research to resolve financial issues
  • Preparation of financial policies
