Jet Maintenance Manager
A growing FAA Part 145 Class III Certificated Repair Station located at KPSM in Portsmouth, New Hampshire is seeking an experienced Jet Maintenance Manager to lead and grow the corporate jet maintenance division. Reporting directly to the Director of Maintenance, this leadership role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving business development, and ensuring the safety, quality, productivity, and profitability of the department.
This position manages aircraft maintenance operations, ground support, facilities, and personnel while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, customer satisfaction, and internal performance metrics. The successful candidate will possess a strategic mindset, operational expertise, and the interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and engage clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Align departmental goals with company vision, driving performance and growth

Execute strategic initiatives and support long-term expansion of the maintenance operation
Financial Oversight

Develop and manage departmental P&L budgets

Conduct routine budget vs. actual reviews and recommend corrective actions

Report financial performance and forecasts to the Director of Maintenance
Operational Management

Conduct daily maintenance planning meetings to assign workloads based on capacity

Oversee the scheduling and completion of maintenance tasks in accordance with quality standards and FAA regulations
Quality Control & Compliance

Ensure departmental adherence to Quality Control (QC) benchmarks and procedures

Review work-in-process for compliance and billing accuracy before invoicing

Maintain alignment with Repair Station Manual (RSM) specifications
Facility & Personnel Management

Oversee hangar operations, tooling, and shop equipment
-
Identify staffing needs, assist with hiring, and support floor operations as needed
Training & Development

Implement HR policies specific to the maintenance team

Define training programs, track progress, ensure certification compliance, and monitor technician performance
Client & Vendor Relations

Act as a liaison between customers and the maintenance team to ensure satisfaction and communication

Conduct audits of third-party maintenance providers when required

Represent the company at aviation industry events to stay current with best practices
Required Skills & Abilities
-
5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, including 1+ years in a leadership role

Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite

Proficient in P&L reporting, cost control, and financial analysis

Experience with corporate jet maintenance under Part 91 and Part 135 operations (e.g., NetJets, EJM, FlexJet, etc.)

Familiarity with Part 121 maintenance systems is a plus

Knowledge of FAA regulations and ability to interface with FAA representatives

Skilled with Corridor and aircraft maintenance tracking systems (CAMP, Cescom, Traxxall, ATP)

Ability to assist with hands-on mechanical tasks when needed

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills

Sales and customer service aptitude for working directly with aircraft owners and operators

Proven leadership in managing, training, and motivating technical teams

Ability to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful work environment

Self-starter with high emotional intelligence, adaptability, and sound judgment

Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and FAA-compliant drug screening

Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Minimum Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
5–10 years of general aviation maintenance experience preferred

FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required

FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) is a plus

Familiarity with standard aviation tools and practices

Criminal background check and compliance with FAA Drug & Alcohol screening mandatory
