Job Description
Position Summary:
The consultant should have demonstrated knowledge of end-to-end merchandising processes and the systems that support them. They do not need to be a deep expert in every area, but should have a working understanding of the major process areas and how they connect, including:
- Product development, including PLM, PIM, and related item/product data processes
- Costing and procurement
- Assortment planning
- Merchandise financial planning
- Allocation and replenishment
- Demand planning and forecasting
- Pricing and promotion
- Size and pack optimization
The consultant should have hands-on experience with merchandising, planning, and allocation systems in a corporate retail environment, ideally including participation in a software implementation from design through go-live.
Key experience and capabilities should include:
- Experience working across both business and IT teams in retail
- Ability to facilitate design sessions and ask informed questions that translate business needs into clear requirements
- Process design, process mapping, and documentation
- Testing experience, including scenario development, test case creation, defect identification, tracking, and closure
- Ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions within a retail organization
- Ability to work through ambiguity and adapt in a changing project environment
- Ability to lead, influence, and drive alignment across stakeholders, with or without direct authority
- Familiarity with how AI/ML tools are being applied in retail merchandising, planning, allocation, forecasting, pricing, or related areas is preferred
