The Investment Portfolio Manager is responsible for investing clients' assets consistent with the asset allocation guidelines set for each client objective and implementing departmental investment decisions across client accounts. In addition, this position is the primary source of investment information in client meetings and works in cooperation with internal team members in maintaining client relationships and supporting their business development efforts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage portfolios consistent with the client's investment objectives by adhering to the investment policy guidelines, various investment strategies, asset allocation models, and approved securities lists.
- Implement the portfolio strategy decisions of the Bank’s Wealth Investment Department across client accounts to ensure consistent performance outcomes.
- Meet with clients (in person or online) to review investment performance and discuss the current portfolio strategies and asset allocation related to the client’s income and liquidity needs, return objectives, and risk tolerance.
- Become and maintain proficiency in using the trading platform, the performance reporting system, and the trust accounting system.
- Complete required initial and annual Reg. 9 account reviews.
- Participate and contribute to the weekly Portfolio Manger’s Committee meeting to discuss economic trends, asset allocation, and individual security recommendations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial markets and ongoing economic events with a strong ability to communicate that knowledge along with the firm’s investment ideas and strategies to clients.
- Have an extensive understanding of the investment philosophy, allocation strategy, primary equity and fixed income strategies, mutual fund selection process and platform, and the list of all approved securities for use.
- Participate in the timely writing of letters describing current market conditions and our investment recommendations.
- Support relationship managers and team members throughout the Wealth Management Department in maintaining client relationships and supporting their business development efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis on Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA and/or CFA designation preferred or working towards completion of CFA designation.
- Minimum of five years of experience in managing investment client relationships is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally with individuals and audiences of varying knowledge on capital markets and investments.
- Must be professional, comfortable speaking with external and internal contacts with a demonstrated ability to effectively tailor the message to the audience and situation.
