Position Overview

Help Community Credit Union members to develop investment strategies utilizing non-deposit investment products including, but not limited to, securities and insurance.

Essential Functions

  1. Assist members to develop financial investment strategies by explaining options and assisting with the placement of investments in accordance with FINRA and state insurance laws.

  2. Develop and maintain relationships with Branch Team Members that encourages sales and referrals by developing report, encouraging open communication and providing education.

  3. Maintain ongoing contact with clients to identify changes in financial needs and investment options.

  4. Prepare and submit documents to implement product trades and ongoing service.

  5. Conduct financial workshops for Credit Union members and non-members, as needed.

  6. Respond to staff, member referrals and clients in a timely manner.

  7. Deepen member relationships by determining member needs and promoting and cross-selling SELCO companies’ products and services.

  8. Actively engage with people in a respectful and professional manner.

  9. Communicate with internal, external, and potential members in a friendly, professional manner in person, over the phone, and via e-mail.

  10. Adhere to federal and state regulations, Credit Union policies, and other compliance obligations.

  11. Consistently achieve stated goals.

  12. Participate in required meetings and training.

  13. Demonstrate leadership skills and maintain corporate values, mission statement, and service promises.

  14. Represent the Credit Union with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

  15. Support Management and member decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner.

  16. Actively participate in security, robbery, disaster recovery and fire training.

  17. Actively contribute to Credit Union and department team goals and functions, including but not limited to, initiating resolution of observed or known issues concerning other departments and championing other departmental changes that will benefit the organization.

  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Interaction and Environment

Reports To: Vice President, Investment and Retirement Services/Senior Investment Advisor

Onsite work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with moderate background noise. Position requires travel to various locations.

Computer, Fax Machine, Copier, Phone, General Office Supplies, Calculator

Physical Activities Required To Perform Essential Functions

Sitting/Mobility: Approximately 70% of time is spent working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 30%) is spent moving around work areas.

Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, members, and outside agencies, by telephone and in person.

Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memos and other appropriate paperwork.

Lifting/Carrying: Ability to transport files and office supplies.

Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to access files/stock supplies in low cabinets and shelves.

Reaching/Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment, and supplies.


  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.

  2. Solid word processing and computer database skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  3. Working knowledge of computer systems, including knowledge of online computer systems as it applies to departmental usage.

  4. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  5. Ability to take initiative, assume responsibility, and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.

  6. Ability to recognize member financial needs and to effectively cross-sell Credit Union and CUSO products and services.

  7. Excellent customer service skills.

  8. Willingness and ability to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.

  9. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

  10. Strong analytical ability with active listening skills.

  11. Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.

Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; and

  2. Bachelor’s degree in business-related field or equivalent experience; and

  3. Possess a valid driver’s license; and

  4. Possess a valid Oregon Insurance Licenses, Life and Health, Variable Products; and

  5. Maintain FINRA Registered Series 7; and

  6. Maintain FINRA Registered Series 63 and 65 or 66; and

  7. Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Trust Services is preferred; and

  8. Must be bondable.
