International Associate – Product Manager

One of our more prestigious clients has requested our assistance in seeking an International Associate Product Manager.

Our client is a reputable American business based in Illinois that specializes in crafting top-tier hand tools and has recently expanded into power tools. This renowned firm has earned a positive reputation among those who enjoy a high-quality product.

Your expertise will guide our research and concept development activities, leading to groundbreaking products, remarkable product enhancements, and thoughtful redesigns tailored to regional needs.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist Product Managers and Directors with short—and long-term product plans, focusing on global strategy, especially in Asia.
  • Execute plans for assigned product categories or projects, including special promotions, new products, forecasts, and other relevant activities. Responsible for achieving financial plans for each product/project across international markets.
  • Provide data analysis on the competitive environment, current product offering, customer needs, sales trends, and specific and targeted recommendations with a focus on Asia.
  • Assist the Product Manager or Director in seeking out, evaluating, and prioritizing opportunities for product improvements, product line additions, new markets, improved merchandising, promotions, and other growth prospects, with particular emphasis on expanding our presence in Asian markets.
  • Support assigned products/projects by overseeing and executing plans, including product launches, modifications, and promotions, ensuring alignment with global and regional strategies.
  • Display leadership qualities when working with cross-functional teams across multiple countries. Drive effective communication and collaboration within the organization, fostering good working relationships among team members and other functional contacts globally.
  • Stay in touch with the market by interacting with salespeople, distributors, and end users in various regions, with a focus on understanding the nuances of Asian markets.
  • Gather and maintain market data, conducting market research as needed, particularly in Asia. Dedicate 15% of your time to fieldwork, documenting activities and insights to understand customer needs in these regions.
  • Understand basic tactical product knowledge on product functionality, pricing, packaging, merchandising use, and applications, with a focus on adapting these elements to different cultural and market needs across Asia. Provide product-related assistance to other areas of the company as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related technical field and two (2) years of relevant business experience. MBA preferred.
  • Extensive business experience with test and measure equipment manufacturers is highly desired, or the consumer goods industry is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in analyzing data related to the competitive environment, product offerings, customer needs, and sales trends, particularly in Asian markets. Ability to make targeted recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Ability to project manage multiple tasks effectively in a global context.
  • Ability to understand and perform basic mathematics and financial calculations.
  • Experience in consumer goods (durable preferred) distribution through Retail or Commercial channels, especially in Asia, is desired but not required.
