Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the President of nationwide open deck carrier that specializes in the transportation of over-dimensional steel and lumber products, as well as other building material. With $57 million in revenue the company has 320 trucks, operating from 6 terminals. The newly started drayage division consists of 45 trucks (lease purchase), with aspirations to grow to over 100 trucks by end of year 2022.
The Intermodal-Drayage Terminal Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the terminal. Ensure an efficient and effective schedule is developed for the safe and timely pickup and delivery of customer’s goods. Review driver settlements and act proactively. Develop and manage the terminal operating budget. Ensure the terminal has developed a transportation plan for projects where necessary yard check at the beginning and end of day. Backs up employees in the event of absences and vacations. Provide input when requested on quotes, PROs, and manifests. Build and sustain level of trust with drivers. Build strong working relationships with cross functional departments. Enforce compliance of federal, state and company rules and regulations. Determine the staffing needs required and make recommendations for sourcing, outsourcing, and reducing workforce as needed. Develop and recommend product/service positioning, presentation, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share. Meet with key customers to assist sales representatives with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals. Direct the activities of dispatchers, CSRs, and drivers to ensure that the tactical plan’s goals are met on a daily and weekly basis through the “plan the work and work the plan” methodology. Act as leader, coach and counselor for the terminal employees and non-company drivers. Analyze and control expenditures of terminal to conform to budgetary/forecasting requirements.

Background Required:
  • Intermodal Terminal Operations Management (5 years)
  • Knowledge of the Ports and Rail Yards in the Savanah market
  • Supervision (dispatchers, customer service, drivers)
  • Established standard operating procedures & metrics
  • DOT & OSHA Regulations / Hours of Service Regulations
  • Knowledge of bills of lading, in gate/out gate, dock receipts, delivery orders, HazMat placarding
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Education: High School Diploma
  • Location: Savanah, GA
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Background in TMW or related software
  • Financial (P & L, Forecasting, Budgets)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
