Intermediate-Senior Distribution Engineer
Overview:
Our client is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric and telecom utility industry.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and/or review designs, documents, calculations, drawings, estimates for distribution projects involving overhead or underground system ranging in voltage from 4kV to 35kV. This could include pole line design, underground cable system design, equipment replacement/upgrade, load flow analysis, protection coordination, etc.
• Use CAD software and computer-aided design methods to perform design.
• Act as the Professional of Record on assigned projects.
• Interface with other design disciplines, coordinate with related stakeholders, and assist team leads and managers
• Support documentation process for projects including technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports and project calculations
• Analyze existing engineering processes and support the development of improved processes.
• Provide training, mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
• Assist recruitment and on-boarding of new staff.
• Assist in a variety of project support activities including project coordination, strategic planning, client support, and business analysis supporting the project management department.
Qualifications:
• A degree from of an accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology institution. Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Registered as Professional Engineer with at least one of the Canadian Provincial Engineering Associations.
• Minimum 5 years engineering and design experience in the power utility distribution industry.
• Strong knowledge of Power Transmission and Distribution networks and standards.
• Knowledge in the use of Spida-calc or equivalent finite element pole line analysis software strongly preferred.
• Knowledge in the use of Cyme or other equivalent power engineering software an asset.
• Experience with BC Hydro's design systems and standards strongly preferred.
• BC Class 5 driver's license for those residing in BC.
