As an intermediate Project Manager you’ll be project managing software implementations, configurations and migrations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assigned projects, including management of scope, budget, risk, resources, plan/timeline, internal communications and external client communications. Leads project teams and is responsible and accountable for overall success of project.
  • Determines staffing needs for projects, and works with resource management and other project managers to coordinate assignment of staff to projects. This may include working with a small number of subcontractors and/or partners.
  • Works with other departments to prepare services contracts.
  • Ensures internal and external client escalation procedures are followed in a timely manner for prompt problem resolution on projects.
  • Participates in, or leads, knowledge-sharing activities and makes contributions to our client’s knowledge-base. This may include working with and/or providing presentations to internal groups/resources.
  • Proactively maintains an understanding of our client’s solutions and architectures, including competitive analysis. This may include building and maintaining strong ties with other corporate resources.
  • Works with pre-sales to help qualify solution sales opportunities. Provides services time/effort estimates and project plans for use in proposals.
  • Provides client presentations regarding methodologies, our client’s value proposition, and project management processes.
  • Builds new and leverages existing client contacts to identify new business opportunities.
  • Provides input into consulting group processes and procedures.
  • Participates in Project Management team review of PMO processes, and actively develops/contributes material to PMO as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


You Have:

  • Minimum 3 years software installation, integration, configuration and/or development experience
  • Consulting experience with external clients, in competitive situations (e.g., from other Independent Software Vendor or Big 4 consulting as opposed to dealing with internal clients only)
  • Broad knowledge and experience in a variety of technologies, platforms and environments such as
    • One or more RDMBS including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Sybase
    • a breadth of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe) and platforms (IBM, Sun, HP, Windows)
    • client server, and multi-tier environments
    • connectivity issues and protocols
    • monitoring tools (e.g., Tivoli)
    • job scheduling and event/exception management.
    • security, file systems, and common network practices
    • BEA Weblogic, Websphere, J2EE, web development
    • metadata management and XML
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI), Decision Support Systems (DSS) and tools and/or reporting (Cognos, Business Objects, OLAP reporting)
  • Strong leadership abilities. You have either managed projects or led technical teams on projects.
  • Bachelors Degree (minimum), preferably in Business or Computer Science.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel when necessary (limited – no more than 25%)

  • PMBOK knowledge, PMI Certification (PMP) or desire to achieve certification within a couple of years
