Summary/Objective

The Interior Designer / Coordinator position is intended to aid in fostering superior customer service by supporting special orders and ensuring that products meet and exceed the customer’s expectations.

Essential Functions

  1. Works as a teammate with the sales staff and project managers.
  2. Interacts with customers to tailor business solution needs.
  3. Leads design seminars to help build the book of business.
  4. Assists clients with the selection of unique products of unparalleled quality, including office furniture, accessories, etc.
  5. Prepares furniture layouts for customers.
  6. Keeps customers up-to-date on design activity, providing progress reports and handling issues in a professional and courteous manner
  7. Develop orders to submit to manufacturers to fulfill client orders.
  8. Acts as the first point of contact/trouble shooter for manufacturer related questions/problems as they arise during production.
  9. Acts as a catalyst for issues of consistency by monitoring the design integrity and correcting style anomalies as many projects move toward completion.
  10. Creates production schedules based on information provided by the manufacturer and the customer.
  11. Creates and executes special projects as assigned or needed.
  12. Acts as the principle designer for managed accounts.
  13. Acts as backup for all designers as needed.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires some local travel.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in fine arts, design or graphics or equivalent number of years of experience.
  2. Strong working knowledge or practical understanding of most popular professional design programs.
  3. Strong understanding of how to design an office layout in a fast-paced and professional environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, plus three years of computer aided design experience.
  2. Provide a quality portfolio of exceptional design work and/or ability to successfully complete a mock design project.
