Interim Patient Safety Coordinator
Northern California between San Francisco and Sacramento
Our client is a 175+ bed nonprofit hospital known for their compassion, commitment to excellence, and the depth and breadth of services, as a testament to their enduring commitment to the local community.
They are looking for an outstanding Interim Patient Safety Coordinator for the next 2 months.
The Patient Safety Coordinator Identifies and analyzes risk by utilizing multiple data sources, (safety alerts, sentinel event alerts, RIR’s, product recalls). Reviews Risk Identification reports daily and assigns follow up to the appropriate director/manager. Reviews potential high risk events with director before assignment is made. Tracks that follow up reviews are being completed timely and closes out events when actions have been completed. Prepares reports related to trending and analysis of Risk Events to be presented at various committees. Prepares weekly reports for Hospital Senior Management and Directors. Reviews and addresses any external influences on patient safety, including compliance with requirements related to reporting patient safety events and reportable events. Provides patient safety content expertise in continuous readiness related to accreditation and regulatory agencies. Maintains current knowledge of external agencies that issue guidelines on patient safety. Implements and monitors compliance with National Patient Safety Goals. Conducts Root Cause Analyses (RCA) as needed including interviews with involved staff as close to the occurrence of the event as possible. Ensures action plans are developed and implemented. Monitors progress. Educates physicians and staff on the RCA process.
Qualifications:
- BSN Required.
- MSN or Master's degree in related Health Care field preferred.
- Current CA RN License.
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS).
- 3 years clinical experience in acute care process improvement, change management, or equivalent and solid working knowledge of improving patient safety.
