Salary: $310,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage comprehensive patent portfolio development for life sciences clients across domestic and international markets, ensuring alignment with client's strategic goals.
  • Lead strategic planning for the IP lifecycle, including second-generation drugs, biologics, and complex international patent strategy.
  • Perform thorough due diligence assessments and provide high-quality counseling on transactions, infringement disputes, defense strategies, and avoidance techniques.
  • Represent clients in significant patent disputes at the USPTO, focusing on post-grant proceedings and other contentious matters.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to develop and execute effective patent protection strategies, catering to both discovery-stage startups and established industry leaders.
  • Advise on non-infringement, invalidity, and competitive positioning strategies to safeguard client innovations and enhance asset value.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar Admission in New York.
  • At least 4 years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution within the life sciences context.
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior engagement with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in the area of international patent portfolio management.
  • Experience in leading lifecycle management for IP related to pharmaceuticals, including post-grant proceedings.
