STATION VALIDATOR INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN

Location: Los Angeles, CA (LA Metro Rail Stations)

Duration: Approximately 6 weeks

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Positions: 4

PROJECT OVERVIEW

ESP Enterprises has been contracted by Cubic Transportation Systems to modify 603 existing Metro rail faregates, integrating QR code scanners and upgraded payment systems as part of LA Metro's TAP Plus upgrade—a multi-million dollar initiative preparing the system for the 2026 World Cup, 2027 Super Bowl, and 2028 Olympics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Remove existing validators and install new units with QR code scanners and enhanced displays

• Safely handle and position equipment weighing up to 75 lbs throughout the workday

• Verify proper mounting, structural integrity, and basic connectivity

• Maintain installation logs and follow Metro safety protocols

• Work efficiently in active transit environments with ongoing train operations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Physical: Lift/carry 75 lbs repeatedly; stand, bend, kneel extended periods; work on ladders

Experience: 1+ year in equipment installation, construction, or related field

Skills: Proficient with hand/power tools; read installation diagrams; basic mounting hardware knowledge

Attributes: Strong work ethic, punctuality, detail-oriented, team player, safety-conscious

Other: Valid driver's license preferred; reliable transportation for reporting to various Metro locations through the greater Los Angeles Area

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

LA Metro familiarity • OSHA 10/30 certification • Previous work with ESP Enterprises or Cubic Transportation Systems is a plus!
