Job Description
Ensure the safe and effective use of medication by reviewing and verifying prescriptions, monitoring patient drug therapy, and providing drug information to healthcare providers.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Patient Care: Provide direct patient care by preparing and dispensing medications, monitoring patient drug therapy, and identifying and resolving drug-related problems.
- Collaboration with a Healthcare Team including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care and ensure the safe and effective use of medications.
- Inventory Management: Maintain accurate drug inventory and ordering systems, ensuring adequate supplies are available for patient care.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with locate, state, and federal laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy, including HIPAA, DEA regulations, and USP 797.
- Professional Development: Stay current with developments in the field of pharmacy and continue professional development through continuing education and training opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Must have current California Pharmacy License, BS in Pharmacy, Pharm D preferred.
- Must be familiar with all pharmacy guidelines and regulations.
- Frequently fast paced environment requires ability to handle stress.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English; both verbal and written.
- Must have good interpersonal skills and interface professionally, tactfully and respectfully with patients, residents, staff, general public and governmental agencies.
- Good computer skills required.
