Description of the work:
The resources must perform the various tasks of an ATIP officer, including but not limited to:
Assess access to information and privacy requests received by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and determine the right of access to that information under the ATIP legislation.
Analyze, sort and process records under the control of the CFIA, interpret and apply the appropriate provisions of the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and related regulations, policy and guidance instruments to develop recommendations and rationales on the disclosure and nondisclosure of information.
Explain ATIP legislation with internal and external clients as required.
Negotiate the scope and extent of requests with applicants as required.
Conduct necessary consultations with internal and external clients as well as with third parties, other Federal Institutions or Other Government pursuant to the ATIP legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines.
Negotiate recommendations on the disclosure and non-disclosure of information for the resolution of complaints with the Offices of the Information and Privacy Commissioners.
Provide advice and guidance on the application of the ATIP legislation within the CFIA.
Other ATIP Office related duties as required.
Work with e-mail software such as Outlook, SharePoint, and ATIP case management and redaction software (AccessPro Case Management and Redaction).
