Currently seeking a talented and dedicated Infection Preventionist for a great opportunity in the Miami, FL area. The ideal candidate will possess 3+years of current experience working in an acute care hospital and have 2+ years of experience working in infection prevention unit.

Responsibilities of the Infection Preventionist

  • The Infection Preventionist is responsible for comprehensive surveillance activities, applying an epidemiological approach to the identification of infection prevention issues that include a chart review, updating of databases and preparation of summary reports, and provides clinical support to performance improvement operations, patient care delivery and Medical Directors
  • Assists in the dissemination of results/findings and maintain communication patterns with staff and physicians
  • Provides a professional consulting role for patients/families, staff, and physicians
  • This position is intended to help support operational functionality, efficiency, quality, and assist in improving patient outcomes
  • The Infection Preventionist consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the core values and the Hospital’s mission and values
  • Projects an image of professionalism in communication, appearance, and conduct
  • Supports the Quality Department mission
  • Participates in the continuous quality improvement process
  • Maintains a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures
  • This knowledge may include the use of specialized instrumentation, software, Quality Control requirements, and preventive maintenance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements of the Infection Preventionist

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, Epidemiology or Public Health; Bachelor of Science preferred
  • If a nurse they must be licensed to practice in Florida
  • Special training in surveillance, prevention, and control of nosocomial infections
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in infection control and prevention unit
  • 3 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting
  • Certification in infection control required must be completed within 12 months of employment
