Industrial Maintenance Electrician

A global leader in value added, high strength steel has an opening for an Industrial Maintenance Electrician. This position will maintain equipment to ensure safe operation, minimal downtime, and high utilization and throughput of product.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

  • Perform preventative maintenance for lighting, power distribution equipment (breakers, disconnects, switches, etc.), lifting stations, cameras, and multiple types of instrumentation
  • Install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment according to electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as cameras, conveyors, and programmable controllers according to electrical code and applicable blueprints
  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures using test equipment; replace damaged or broken wires and cables using hand tools.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices
  • May diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education, Certification, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum five (5) years of journeyman-level experience as an electrician in an industrial field (construction and/or maintenance) required
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in heavy industrial maintenance required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Relevant certifications preferred

Skills and Competencies Required

  • Knowledge of methods, equipment, and materials used in the electrical trade
  • Knowledge of principals of electrical theory as applied to electrical and electronic circuits, wiring, and electrical equipment used in industrial processes
  • Ability to work from blueprints, diagrams, and sketches
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships
  • Proficient in written and verbal communications
  • Ability to work independently and/or with minimal supervision
