Industrial Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

Develops and improves manufacturing processes by understanding product and manufacturing requirements and implementing methods to meet or exceed these requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Reviews and evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials; conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
  • KPI’s include: FPY and Productivity
  • Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing, planning and implementing work flow, work station design, space requirements and equipment layout in the production area.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished products and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes meet or exceed requirements.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
  • Ownership of BOM’s and Routers.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.
  • Commitment to all safety policies and regulations at all times.
  • Perform technical training on new products and methods for production, quality and other team members as required.
  • Technical subject matter expert for assigned area; support for all employees on technical issues.
  • Supports maintenance technicians in trouble shooting equipment issues.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering. 3+ years of aerospace specifications and sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is required.
  • Experience in a lean environment is required.
  • Experience in Six Sigma methodology is preferred.
  • Must work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Continuing education to learn new techniques as they emerge.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Knowledge of electronics and machine tools.

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

  • Excellent computer skills required.
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings/blueprints. Knowable of GD&T preferred.
  • Excellent math and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to read and write complex spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment.
