The
The IT Team Lead is responsible for ensuring the day to day optimal performance, reliability, availability and security of the client's data and IT infrastructure. This encompasses server and storage environments, networks, phone systems, development and QA platforms, desktops and related technologies and services. This also includes management, monitoring, reporting and documentation of all aspects of the IT infrastructure and operational activities
This position requires strong communications skills, the ability to manage multiple high priority activities along with the ability to provide creative and effective solutions to complex problems.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a technical team
- Installation and maintenance of Solaris and Linux development and production servers.
- Installation and maintenance of external production environments and deployments
- Leading technical projects and resolution of complex issues where appropriate.
- Distributed network storage management
- Network backup and restoring architecture
- Source Code Management (SCM)
- Learning new technologies and acting as backup to other team members for these technologies as needed.
- Participating in back up and disaster recovery planning and implementation.
Qualifications:
- Experience managing a technical team
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong teamwork skills
- Minimum 5 years Unix System Administration experience (Solaris or other)
- passionate about zfs, open storage, ssds and the revolution in storage
- Scripting experience with Perl, Shell (bash or other)
- understands remote management of computing platforms
- self-directed and self-learning in terms of technology trends and state of the art computing
- understands how to configure and optimize computing for storage servers, databases and compute servers
- capable of architectural work (servers, storage, networks, management) etc.
- Technical insight to achieve the best possible results in a timely manner
- Proven ability to innovate in ways that contribute to the success of the business.
- Solaris 2.x; storage management (SVM), networking and general administration
- DB2 database administration experience would be an asset.
- A University degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
