Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP Human Resources of a leading producer of industrial pressure-treated wood products. Responding to the vital infrastructure needs of economy, they manufacture and distribute railway ties, utility poles, residential lumber, and industrial wood products across North America.
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for implementing policies as a generalist, partnering with business leadership to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and resolves HR issues. They are also serving as a HR liaison for the following areas: talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, safety, succession planning, and EEO compliance. This person partners with plant and regional management teams to align policies, procedures, and programs with company objectives. They serve as the face of company policy, philosophy, and guidance to employees. Partner with leadership team to drive high performing culture. Works with management to resolve employee relations issues and conducts investigations as appropriate. Review’s operation structures including talent assessments & gaps and creates talent strategies including top grading, employee development, and reorganization. Review’s compensation structures and is aware of position in job market. Identifies training program opportunities for new hires, skill building, and cross training across plants. Maintain relationship with union officials. Participates in company’s safety program.

Background Required:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the following areas: (Recruiting & retaining strategy, analyze turnover data, onboarding, training, and development, change management, benefits, legal, payroll, employee special benefits (worker’s comp, FMLA))

  • HRIS understanding
  • SHRM-CP Certification
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical and legal documents
  • Reporting
  • Travel: 30%-50% (1-2 days a week)
  • Computer literate: Microsoft office products
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Human Resources preferred)
  • Residence: Work remote (Evansville, IN, and Bangor, WI)
