The Human Resource Manager will be involved in leading the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and onboarding new employees, coaching management and staff, and administering company policies, procedures, and practices. The successful candidate will be a lifelong learner who enjoys staying up to date on best practices and has a passion for Human Resources. This is a hybrid position working 3 days in office 2 remote and the office is in Merrillville, IN.


Reports to the Vice President of Human Resources.

  • Partner with the V.P. of HR to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs and succession planning.
  • Manage the talent acquisition process including recruitment and onboarding of qualified candidates, particularly for hourly, non-exempt, and entry level exempt roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Responsible for providing HR leadership for the Warehouse and Customer Service staff, partnering with Warehouse and Customer Service management to develop and maintain high performing teams.
    • Ensure required and developmental training is identified and executed.
    • Provide coaching on adherence to company policies.
    • Be proactive in identifying opportunities to increase employee engagement.
    • Partner with management in increasing department efficiency and productivity.
    • Oversee the performance management process.
    • Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; will be required to coach and execute tasks in delicate circumstances such as, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, providing reasonable accommodations and employee relations issues.
  • Serve as the back-up for payroll when the Sr. Acct. Mgr. is unavailable.
  • Manage the HRIS system ensuring all records are accurately inputted and maintained.
  • Maintain employee records both physical and digital.
  • Maintain the Employee Handbook; recommend best practices, review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Analyze trends, research and propose programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of human resource generalist experience preferred.
  • Prior experience working with manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution staff.
  • Spanish language skills

Additional Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

This is a full-time exempt salary-based position with opportunity for bonus.
