Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources of a rapidly growing asset-based 3rd party organization specializing in transportation, logistics and warehousing. The Director of Human Resource is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resources function.
The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day human resource operations, assist with daily HR functions, including full cycle recruiting, onboarding, new hire processing, answering employee questions and verifications of employment. Performs routine task required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leaves, discipline matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition and morale, occupational safety and training and development for union and non-union employees in CA and WA. Full cycle recruiting to include creating job posts, applicant screening, coordinating interviews with the hiring managers, preparing offer letters, and onboarding of new hires. Coaches team members regarding performance concerns, attendance policies and coordinates the administration of monthly employee performance appraisals timely. Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. Partners with HR Director as a liaison between the organization and external vendors, brokers, and staffing agencies.

- Employee Recruitment Strategies i.e. (college/university/professional recruiting efforts, print/media)
- Coaches leadership team in areas of corrective counseling, performance management and employment practices and new company initiatives.
- On-boarding, Training & Development of new employees
- Benefits & Insurance Management and Policies knowledgeable
- Labor Law compliance (EEOC, OSHA, FMLA, Union Agreements and procedures)
- Transportation Regulations (DOT, ELD, FMCSR, CFR-49)
- HR Information Systems (HRIS) knowledgeable, Ulti PRO, Kronos, ADP & Ceridian
- Computer literate (Microsoft suite, Power Point, Word, Excel)
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
- Travel: Locally, Overnight.
- Location: San Leandro, CA
- Associates degree or equivalent experience in relevant field such as business administration is preferred
- 2 years Human Resources experience in warehousing, logistics or transportation preferred
- 1-2 years ADP Workforce Now, Payroll experience preferred, Ceridian
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Typing 45 wpm
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information systems (HRIS), and similar computer applications
