Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner - Adult Care

Salary: $115,000 - $130,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of hospitalized patients to diagnose, treat, manage, and evaluate acute and chronic conditions.
  • Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare specialists to devise comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Perform detailed physical examinations, prescribe medications, and order as well as interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Monitor ongoing patient conditions, making adjustments to treatment plans based on progression and response to therapy.
  • Provide educational support and guidance to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment pathways, and preventive care measures.
  • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of patient records, documenting all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement projects that enhance patient care and institutional practices, fostering a positive and productive work atmosphere.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Current and valid New York State Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Nationally Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP).
  • Hands-on clinical experience in acute care settings, with a demonstrated ability to manage a range of acute medical conditions.
  • Proven ability to perform comprehensive physical assessments and interpret complex diagnostic data.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively educating and engaging patients and staff alike in treatment protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 1-2 years of direct experience functioning in a hospitalist or acute care role.
  • Advanced training in emergency care practices or intensive care is highly desirable.
  • Demonstratable leadership skills in managing patient care teams or leading clinical projects.
