Hospice Director of Clinical Services

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hospice Director of Clinical Services (DCS) to lead our hospice care team. This pivotal role focuses on the management and oversight of clinical operations aimed at delivering outstanding care that aligns with our mission of compassion and quality. Salary: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management and day-to-day operations of the hospice clinical services, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the quality of patient care and ensure safety.
  • Coordinate and evaluate the interdisciplinary team to ensure effective performance and delivery of services.
  • Manage the clinical staffing model and deployment to optimize resource utilization and patient satisfaction.
  • Lead the quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI) initiatives; monitoring programs to maintain high standards of care.
  • Facilitate ongoing training and professional development opportunities for all clinical staff.
  • Conduct regular reviews of patient care processes for improvement and compliance with hospice philosophy.
  • Establish effective communication channels across various departments ensuring information is disseminated appropriately.
  • Mentor and support clinical managers and staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Manage budgets and financial metrics related to patient census and staffing ratios.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited associate's or bachelor’s degree in nursing program.
  • Licensed RN with eligibility to practice in the specified state.
  • 3-5 years of recent experience in hospice settings with comprehensive knowledge of hospice care practices.
  • 1-2 years of hospice management experience in roles such as Clinical Manager, Director of Nursing, or Patient Care Manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage clinical operations and staff, including planning, budgeting, and performance management.
  • Proven track record in implementing effective QA/PI programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in nursing or healthcare administration.
  • Certification in hospice and palliative care nursing (CHPN).
  • Previous leadership roles in interdisciplinary settings.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to anticipate future trends in hospice care.
