Hospice Director of Clinical Services

The Hospice Director of Clinical Services (DCS) takes a proactive leadership role in the management and direction of our hospice clinical operations. This essential position upholds high standards of quality, ensuring that all goals and objectives align with our organization's commitment to compassion and care. The DCS role is pivotal in influencing the quality of care provided to patients, promoting effective interdisciplinary teamwork and oversight of compliance and performance measures.

Salary: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the clinical operations of the hospice facility, ensuring that patient care is compassionate, clinically sound, and compliant with all regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that meet service standards and regulatory requirements, enhancing operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and evaluate service assignments, clinical programs, and projects, ensuring goals are achieved within the appropriate timeframe and scope of practice.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of care professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages professional growth and high standards of care.
  • Manage key performance indicators including patient census, staffing levels, and budgets to maintain operational and financial efficiency.
  • Maintain rigorous quality assurance and performance improvement (QA/PI) processes to ensure best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate training sessions and professional development workshops for staff, enhancing skills and promoting best practices in hospice care.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • State licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent experience in hospice care settings with solid knowledge of clinical practices and regulations.
  • At least 1 to 2 years of leadership or management experience in a hospice or related healthcare environment, exhibiting strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Proven experience in managing clinical operations, including planning, budgeting, and staffing in accordance with patient needs and organizational targets.
  • Expertise in overseeing QA/PI processes and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in nursing or healthcare administration.
  • Specialized certifications related to hospice care and management.
  • Experience with electronic health records and data-driven management tools.
  • Recognition for leadership in clinical settings, such as awards or commendations.
  • Background in conducting and implementing clinical research related to palliative care.
