A leading engineering firm specializing in the energy sector is seeking a Group Lead for their High Temperature & Fracture team. This role involves leading a premier team dedicated to the innovative application of technology to efficiently solve complex customer and industry problems. The High Temperature & Fracture Group, part of the Mechanical Engineering Division, addresses unique challenges in metal creep, fracture, and remaining life estimates for high temperature applications. Most technical challenges will involve working within a team to quantifying the strength and service life for pressurized components and structures in sectors like refining, chemicals, power generation, and heavy industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of approximately seven full-time staff, with potential for growth.
  • Ensure project scopes are aligned with client needs, encompassing new design, service fitness assessments, and forensic investigation.
  • Collaborate within the Mechanical Division and broader organization to deliver optimal solutions.
  • Act as the primary contact for all technical inquiries and project management within the group.
  • Engage proactively with clients to build relationships and trust.
  • Balance management responsibilities with direct technical contributions to projects.

Qualifications:

  • Innate passion for building trust, empowering, mentoring, and motivating team members and peers.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of metal material properties.
  • More than 4 years of professional experience outside of academia in refining, chemicals, power generation, or other heavy industrial settings.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and mechanics.
  • Experience with engineering codes and standards, and familiarity with Abaqus or Ansys.
  • Capable of managing multiple client relationships and leading projects to completion.
  • Experience with equipment in relevant industrial applications.
  • Ability to independently tackle complex problems, including urgent issues.
  • Willingness to contribute to blogs and technical papers based on project work.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Interest in presenting at conferences.
  • Licensed engineer (e.g., PE, P.Eng.) in applicable jurisdiction.

Location:

Fully remote within the United States, with up to 20% travel required.
