Health Outreach and Education Coordinator

The Health Outreach and Education Coordinator / Grant Writer oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of preventive occupational health services and educational programs. Situated within a reputable Occupational Health Clinical Center, this role is crucial for enhancing community health through effective outreach, education, and research while successfully securing funding through grant writing. Both passionate and data-driven, the coordinator will uphold the center's mission, establishing robust relationships within and beyond the healthcare community.

Salary: $75,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the outreach and education programs.
  • Conduct needs assessments to ensure program activities are targeted and effective.
  • Write, submit, and manage health-related grant proposals.
  • Create educational materials and develop methods to enhance program awareness.
  • Engage with community leaders, union representatives, and healthcare professionals to form and maintain strategic partnerships.
  • Coordinate and manage contractual relationships with agencies providing outreach services.
  • Compile, organize, and analyze data to support various research projects and generate reports and publications.
  • Maintain the center’s resource library and respond to technical assistance requests.
  • Participate in the design and execution of research and evaluation activities within the community and academic settings.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health with a specialization in social and behavioral dimensions of occupational health.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in both academic and occupational health settings.
  • Proven track record of securing and managing grants focused on public and occupational health.
  • High level of initiative and sustained commitment to the field of occupational health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or a related social science.
  • Project management skills with a robust history of leading interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience teaching and mentoring in higher education environments, particularly in public health or medical fields.

Skills:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in using software tools like SAS, Excel, NVivo, Maxq for data analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize research findings and disseminate information through publications, reports, and presentations.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail and deadlines.
