This is a hybrid-remote position. This is a temporary position scheduled through May of 2024.
The County of Maricopa is looking for a Health Equity Communications Planner to assess the communications needs of underserved and marginalized communities within Maricopa County and make recommendations for engagement specific to target audiences to address health equity issues leading to disparities in health outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Population may include but are not limited to refugee, immigrant, migrant, disability, LGBTQ+ and others.
- Identify primary language(s), literacy levels, effective communications channels, geographic location, and community resources that reach each target audience. - Identify community-based, faith-based, and other organizations that serve each target audience
- Determine key influencers within each community (e.g., elders, religious leaders, word of mouth, etc.).
- Specify types and sources of misinformation related to COVID-19, vaccines, and other public health issues.
- Create a communications/outreach plan
Required Qualifications
- At least three years’ experience developing and executing communications strategies with proven results
- Ability to tailor marketing tactics to diverse audiences
- Three (3) years of experience leading public relations/communications initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism, public administration, or a related field
- A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
Preferred Qualifications
- At least four years’ experience developing and executing communications strategies with proven results
