About the Opportunity
Peskind Executive Search has been exclusively retained by a private equity firm to recruit the first true Head of Sales for one of their rapidly scaling GovTech portfolio companies. The business, led by its founder/CEO, has historically operated for long-term sustainability and profitability. With new PE ownership, the company is now in a high-growth phase, completing multiple acquisitions and preparing to build a modern, scalable commercial engine.
The platform is a full-suite public safety and specialty-department solution—including CAD, RMS, parking, and additional modules—built on a modern cloud architecture uniquely suited for Tier 3 & Tier 4 public safety agencies, higher education, and specialty municipal departments. This segment is massively underserved and lacks a modern, high-quality competitor.
Why This Role Exists:
The company has strong retention, profitability, and brand reputation—but limited sales infrastructure. With foundational marketing and SDR hiring underway, the private equity sponsor is now prioritizing the buildout of a best-in-class go-to-market organization.
The Head of Sales will be the senior-most GTM leader with no one hired above them. This is a rare opportunity to build a sales engine from a very low base inside a profitable vertical SaaS business.
Role Overview:
The Head of Sales will:

Build and own the entire sales organization

Hire and lead SDRs, BDRs, quota-carrying sellers, and sales engineering

Design territories, coverage models, outbound programs, and KPIs

Drive net-new ARR, expansion, cross-sell, and cloud migration motions

Operate as a player-coach during early stages

Partner closely with marketing and report directly to the CEO

Engage regularly with the private equity sponsor
Candidate Profile:
Must-Haves

GovTech experience (public safety strongly preferred)

True hands-on builder who has created an outbound GTM motion

Experience selling into municipalities / public sector environments

Career stability; no frequent short stints

Comfortable operating in a resource-light environment initially

Skilled across process design → hiring → pipeline → closing
