Head of Digital (SVP) in MO

The SVP/Head of Digital leads the agency’s digital strategy, execution, and innovation to help nonprofit clients grow fundraising revenue, deepen donor engagement, and build long-term supporter relationships. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on expertise across digital channels, ensuring campaigns are data-driven, donor-centric, and aligned with each client’s mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and lead the agency’s digital fundraising vision, integrating email, web, social, paid media, and emerging channels

  • Partner with nonprofit clients to develop multi-channel digital strategies that drive acquisition, retention, and donor value

  • Translate fundraising goals into actionable digital plans with clear KPIs and performance benchmarks

Client Leadership

  • Serve as senior strategic advisor to key nonprofit clients

  • Present campaign strategies, performance insights, and optimization plans to executive stakeholders

  • Build trust through a deep understanding of each organization’s mission, audience, and funding model

Campaign & Channel Oversight

  • Oversee planning and execution of digital campaigns including:

    • Email fundraising and stewardship

    • Paid media (search, social, display)

    • Website optimization and donation flows

    • Peer-to-peer and grassroots campaigns

  • Ensure consistent messaging and donor experience across all digital touchpoints

Data, Analytics & Optimization

  • Establish measurement frameworks to track ROI, donor acquisition cost, lifetime value, and retention

  • Lead a test-and-learn culture (A/B testing, segmentation, personalization)

  • Use insights to continuously improve campaign performance and donor journeys

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary digital team (strategists, media buyers, analysts, creatives)

  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture focused on results and innovation

  • Identify skill gaps and build capabilities in areas such as marketing automation, AI tools, and emerging platforms

Innovation & Growth

  • Stay ahead of digital trends, platform changes, and nonprofit fundraising innovations

  • Identify new opportunities for clients (e.g., SMS fundraising, influencer partnerships, recurring giving programs)

  • Contribute to agency growth through thought leadership, new business pitches, and service development


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with significant experience in nonprofit fundraising or mission-driven organizations

  • Proven success driving measurable revenue growth through digital channels

  • Deep expertise in email marketing, paid media, CRM systems, and online donation optimization

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into strategy

  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly with senior stakeholders

  • Passion for nonprofit missions and understanding of donor psychology


Preferred Experience

  • Experience within an agency environment serving multiple clients

  • Familiarity with nonprofit CRMs (e.g., Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud, Blackbaud, HubSpot)

  • Knowledge of compliance and best practices in charitable fundraising and data privacy

  • Exposure to omnichannel campaigns including direct mail integration
